The  Idea

My paintings aspire to be an ongoing, continuous process, reflective of the human experience.

Bio.

Antonia is a Brighton based multidisciplinary painter whose bold, vibrant, experimental style, implores the viewer to reflect on the intrinsic forces of nature. Her practice is process based and runs parallel to ongoing research within eastern philosophies that focus on Buddhist Principles of Groundlessness, Interconnectedness and Mindfulness. Within the work, the threads of connection are illuminated between Art and Philosophy these interests not only influence Antonia’s Artwork but inspire a way of living and seeing the world.

Writing in The Studio…

My art is born from a kind of fidgety feeling. A need to always be moving, as Robert Smithson once said

‘What is most alive in art is necessarily fleeting’.

I endeavor to evoke a sense of wonder and attempt to map the invisible forces of nature. An enigma that I have always felt but have never been able to put into words.

My paintings are saturated by the idea of flux, transformation, time and change. I became fascinated by the concept of process. How the ‘being is within the becoming’. The ‘doing’ is the same as ‘undoing.’ A dynamic painting process was a result of thinking about these ideas while I created.”
